Whether you’re a competitor, a rodeo fan, or just someone looking for the rawest day of the cowboy sport, the South Texas Showdown promises an unforgettable experience. When we decided to have this event there were 2 things that we as a Committee were adamant about and those were that we would use the money we make to help the benefit the youth of Uvalde and the surrounding counties and also that we would put the Cowboys and Cowgirls first and make this the very best event we can for the contestants.
Upcoming Events
- The 3S Services South Texas Showdown Team Roping - This will feature 100 + teams made up of the top Team Ropers in the world competing in a grueling 5 Go Round roping with the Top 15 to the short round. If you like long scores and strong cattle with the best ropers in the business this will be the one to watch. Winners will receive an invite and entry Fees paid the the BFI Team Roping held next spring at the Lazy E Arena.
- The TXN Bank Roy Angermiller Steer Roping - This event will feature the top 35 Steer Ropers in the world plus contestants who make it through the qualifier roping. Do not miss this event named after the 9 x NFR Steer Roper & long time Uvalde Rodeo Coach Roy Angermiller.
- The Cuatro Light Cattle Co Breakaway Roping - This event will feature the top 35 Breakaway ropers in the world plus the contestants who make it through the qualifier roping. If you want to see great roping and some of the best horses in the world these ladies will showcase this for sure!
- The Jasper Ruth Ranch - Phil Lyne Invitational Calf Roping - This event will also feature the top 35 Tiedown ropers in the world plus the contestants who make it through the qualifier roping. Do not miss this event named after the greatest All-Around Cowboy in the history of our sport and many time NFR qualifier in events on both ends of the arena, World Champion All-Around Cowboy Phil Lyne
- THE SHOWDOWN - Byler Ranch Company 12 head Match Calf Roping between World Champions Haven Meged and Shad Mayfield
- South Texas Showdown Qualifier - We understand that the talent level runs deep in the rodeo world and some Cowboys and Cowgirls due to many different circumstances are not able to rodeo full time as well as some up and coming ropers have not had the chance yet to be in the top 35 in the world. In our effort to make sure we have the best of the best we have committed to having a qualifier roping in the Steer Roping, Breakaway and Calf Roping to give these people the chance to make it in to this prestigious event.
